Now here's someone after my own heart. "Joe, Your blog would be a much better read if you left all of the B/S vendetta crap out of it. Such as all of the FD crap. It's used up. Move on. We're all tired of seeing the stupid comments."
Joe says that's exactly what he's going to do. If he follows through that will be GREAT! But, he said he was cutting off the Pro-Maryland blogs and didn't. He was going to cancel his Daily Times subscription and didn't. What makes us believe that he'll stop the "B/S vendetta crap". And if he does, then what will happen to those 3,500....um...er....750,000 visitors he gets?

We're All Out to Get You
I've been reading the scant number of comments on Joe's blog this evening. Under the tree post, someone said it looks like good firewood.
Joe says: "Why post under anonymous when we ALL know that only Wayne Barrall Sr. would look at a fresh tree and think like that."
WTF? How can one tell it was a WB comment by that? And, does he mean Wayne Barrall Sr.? Or Wayne Barrall Jr.? Unless the elder is totally pissed off with Joe over the house fire comments, I don't think he's apt to post on Joe's blog. And if he was, why would he say something like that?
If Joe made a mistake and was referring to Jr., why? Why can't he just shut the hell up about it? Mistaken identity is what brought that big, bad fireman to Joe's house to begin with.
By the way, I posted a similar comment over on Albero's site anonymously. I'm just trying to see if he will post. And if he does, will he respond? More importantly, will he apologize to Mr. Barrall Sr.?

"Another Boat Drama"
Joe's new post directs us to Blog Arundel to check out what that blogger has to say about a new boat for Anne Arundel County. Please keep in mind that the new boat which the county wants to apply for a federal grant for, can be used to "detect biological or chemical attacks and respond to nuclear explosions." The county already owns another boat.
Ahhhh
This is one of Joe's headlines today: "Can You Hear The Peace?". It is actually a nice, small post with a picture of tree surrounded by pure white snow. If I didn't know better, I would think he was referring to the three ring circus he calls a news blog. Nothing really too condemning or outrageous. Maybe Harrison has the reins and it tugging a bit, do you think?
Credit Where Credit is Due
One of Joe's latest posts refers to the Daily Times wanting one of it's headlines to be that the Sheriff's office runs the last drug dealer out of town. Joe goes on to say that he cannot understand why to SPD is getting no credit.
"Well, the problem I see here is there's NO mention of Chief Webster and the Salisbury Police Department participating. After all, most of the Drug Dealers are within the City Limits."

Salisbury's Fire Boat
I have some information about the Salisbury Fire Boat. I am sorry for the delay, but unlike some, I try to get accurate information before posting. The boat was checked on DEcember 28th and was found to be moored properly. I am told that the reason the bilge pump was off is "because there is no "shoreline" or electric service to keep it running." It is used mostly when the boat is in service and operating. When the boat returns to the water this time there will be a shoreline installed and the pump left on. By all accounts, the fire department was not negligent.
Here are some more facts that were passed along to me that I would like to share:
1) Salisbury is the second largest port in the State. Millions of gallons of petroleum pass through here each week. Insurance ratings require Salisbury to have a fire boat.
2) The Coast Guard is 2 hours away at best. That is, if they are in port at Crisfield. At any time they may be anywhere in the Bay from the Bay Bridge Tunnel to Harve-de-Grace in Harford County. Any spill that occurs in the river falls to the SFD and SMAG to contain. SMAG (Salisbury Mutual Assistance Group) is made up of all the petroleum companies represented in Salisbury and the SFD. They each have resources for containment and clean-up which is pledged to be used by whichever company may need it for an incident. Salisbury's contribution to SMAG is the boat and the manpower 24-7 to operate it. The oil companies do not have 24-7 personnel on duty so guess who gets the call first.
3) A reference was made that water does not fight petroleum fires, chemicals do. This is quite correct. The chemicals are stored as a concentrate and water is used to dilute them to their proper working consistency.
4) A 250 or 500 gpm pump is not really adequate for fighting fire or supplying a ground based unit.
5) The new fire boat is in the plans for years from now. No where is it being consider for an immediate purchase.

Amusing and Quaint
Joe criticizes Mike Swartz of Monoblog in a recent post. He had several responses, one from Michael himself and another one from a blogger names Mike Netherland who has Mike's Nether Land. This is what he has to say about Joe's blog:

Please be advised that I do not know anything about this site and I have no idea how accurate it is. But it couldn't by off by 747,000 hits could it? Keep in mind, it appears that last complete month reflected was November AND as it explains, it counts "people". The number of times a visit come from a particular place wach day. It only counts them 1 time daily.

I agree with this comment 100%. His motivation behind allowing these comments is to try to prove that firefighters are ignorant and rude. Unfortunately, it is at the expense of a member of the local department. I also believe that Joe had a personal motive in involving that fireman by letting him see those comments. I still stand by my opinion that not all of those comments, in fact, very few of those comments were truly made by firefighters. I hope I am correct. In any event, I hope the firefighter and the public saw through this stunt of Joe's. It would be my greatest wish that the firefighters no longer post on his site. I copied word for word two of Joe's posts and though I still have yet to hear from Joe's attorney regarding a copyright issue, unfortunately, I did not hear from the firefighters either. If it is still an interest, and the local department members would refrain from commenting on Joe's site, I will continue posting what he posts though I think until I hear more, I will paraphrase. In addition, Salisbury Soapbox has also offered his site as a sounding board (as long as you keep it clean). Joe thinks I was doing it to steal hits. That could not be further from the truth. I want to help the firefighters' cause by NOT allowing that sensationalism on his site. 750,000 Hits!
Someone disputes Joe's claim that he had 750,000 visitors last month alone. Joe says:"Please, do me a favor. Actually, do yourself a favor. Don't come back and lets just see what happens to my numbers?"
How are we going to see what happens to his numbers? Do we trust Joe to tell us? If he is all that great, why doesn't he show us a hit count? And before anyone says , " well you don't either", you are right. I won't. I have said that I am sure that I do not have the same number of visitors Joe has. But, to show it would be giving him a piece of information that could be used against me. And trust me, he will see it because he will be back (if he's even ever left). However, if he is the greatest ever, let the public see it! Then, no one can ever doubt him (regarding his visitor number that is).

Joe Played a Role in Keenan's Life
Someone told Joe they thought he ought to specify which people who were "outta here" in 2007 were idiots and those who were great. This is what Joe had to say about Tim Keenan:
"Perhaps you are right about being more specific but Lord knows, anyone who has been blessed enough to have played any part of Mr. Keenan's life knows this is one of the finest gemtlemen the Good Lord placed on this Earth. They don't come any finer or German. LOL"
The only part I remember Joe playing was when he wrote the post decribing Cheif Keenan as physically unfit. When Zack Keenan wrote a comment defending his Dad, Joe was suddenly all over himself with apologies.
