So Who is He?

Who is Joe "The Plumber"?  Was he a plant by the Republicans or an average Joe in HIS yard when Obama stepped in it?  Has the media been wrong in their reporting about Joe?

Who is Colin Powell think he is?  Has he drank the Kool Aid, too!  I prefer Jesse Jackson's opinion on this one over Colin.  Why are people jumping from one side to the other this election?  Are some of them riding the wave of popularity, while others are warning everyone of the impending tidal wave the feel goods?

Let's hear it from all sides, just not Joe's back side. LOL

Joe the plumber is just some tool that got swept up in the tide. Let us not forget who brought him forward. McCain insisted on bringing his name up, repeatedly, to misrepresent his opponents tax plans.

I've pointed out elsewhere on this blog what the reality is for Joe the plumber if he purchases a two man show plumbing company. It ain't going to net anywhere near $250K even if Santa wins the election.

Colin Powell is someone who personally is involved with the players. Jesse Jackson isn't. Maybe he's tired of the same old shit that the current administration has been bringing us and a McCain win will continue.

I think Powell has heard enough of the personal negativity coming from the McCain camp.

Both sides have been using negative campaigning on the issues, but McCain's camp continues to bring up unimportant garbage. I think the American public deserves better.

Kool Aid indeed!

Colin is pissed because Bush made he look like a fool in front of the UN arguing for an unnecessary war.

As far as the ads, I think there is a big difference between negative ads and attack ads. I think it is fine to point out differences in policy and how you view those differences, i dont like personal attacks and exagerated falsehoods.

anon 9:10,
What are your thoughts on the "when you spread the wealth around..." comment by Obama? That seems to have been lost in all the focus on the plumber.

My thoughts (I'm anon 9:10) is that for too long there has been a concentration of wealth among a few citizens. This concentration has grown phenomenally in the last 20 years. The distance between blue collar and CEO is similar to pre-depression levels.

You cannot have a healthy economy when the very backbone (the average American worker) of that economy cannot afford to survive in it.

I don't think Obama's "when you spread the wealth around" is intended to be a line for lazy worthless people to go for a hand out. I view it as a reversal of this concentration of wealth to the very few.

FFS, how much wealth does one family need? Money/wealth is a finite entity. Put more and more of it in the hands of a very few and there's less of it for the rest of the population.

K Street has been a player in the redistribution toward the top through it's stangle hold on government. Wall street greed has done more of the same. The government, by deregulation, has permitted this to happen and it is time IT took an active role in reversing the trend.

Alot of the wealthy worked for that money. Long hours and hard work. I do not think it just to for the government to come in and take some of that money just because they have it and move it around amongst the people who don't work as hard. Not to mention that only a fraction of that money that is taking from the wealthy would end up in the hands of the poorest. You know how government is they will take a million but hand out a thousand.

It's all about the rate of compensation. A lot of workers bust their butts to get ahead and barely keep their noses above water. Then there's the number of obscene bonuses handed out for screwing things up.

Same old deal, year after year, handouts for the people who don't want to work but continue to pop out illegitimate children that the rest of us have to pay for.

Colin Powell proved that this election is all about race.
