HIPPA?

"Does The Salisbury Fire Fighter Know What HIPPA Is?"

Yeah, is that like the really fat animal that lives in Africa? Oh...that's a hippo, yeah right. Let's see..... HIPPA...HIPPA...OHHHH, he means HIPAA. Actually, he had that right the first time. Had he checked himself to be sure before he changed it, he would have known. But, that's par for the course.

I am not sure, but I do not think the HIPAA rule applies here. I believe it to be unethical, but possibly not illegal. Anyone know?

Actually, his first draft referred to it as HEPPA.

...and he calls the rest of us IDIOTs!

HIPPA, as I understand applies to health care providers, i.e. Drs, Nurses, medical clerks, Paramedics, EMT's, even FF's if they are involved in pt care. It can extend to pharmacies and workers there too.

So what?

There is no "real" proof that anyone in any of these positions actually made the comments here.
Besides it was a general statement concerning his where-a-bouts because he was coughing. There was nothing said about his diagnosis or treatment, or medication for the symptoms.

If this violates HIPAA than you better not say "Bless You" if someone sneezes.

The SFD didn't officially release any HIPPA protected information, but some employee "may" have... which was heard by a 3rd party, and become hearsay. No HIPPA infraction was made.

Haha Hungry hipaa! I missed the original and naturally assumed he spelled it hippa which is, of course, a common mistake. Heppa? That's worse that I thought!

Its also Health Information Privacy Protection Act... not Health Insurance Portability whatever...

And also, HIPPA applies to anyone who has possession of covered information as stipulated in the act. It's the information that is dealt with. For example, if a member of the press were to release HIPPA-protected information, the press protection does not apply.

So, if someone saw the FF walk into the hospital and register for treatment, repeating that would not be a violation.

But it would be "news" for some windbag to jump on.

Anon,

One thing to keep in mind is that Chief TinyTesticle declares anything "news" that meets his objective of smearing people.

Chief TinyTesticle was trying to attack the "brotherhood" of the fire department, alleging that the comment was from a firefighter. But since he only makes accusations (and never turns over the evidence to back up his accusations), one will never know.

It is just as likely that the commenter was NOT a firefighter (in fact, more likely) or one of Chief TT's little source biatches in the FD.

Never, ever forget that Chief TT has an agenda to inflate himself at the expense of others.
